PR03. Plan, execute, analyze data and present the results of experimental research in the field of biology. PR05. Demonstrate skills to assess unforeseen biological problems and deliberate choosing ways to solve them PR07. Have the techniques of self-education and self-improvement. Be able to design a trajectory professional growth and personal development, applying acquired knowledge. PR08.Know and understand the basic terms, concepts, theories and laws in the field of biological sciences and on the border subject areas. PR09. Adhere to the provisions of biological ethics, rules of biological safety and biological protection in learning process and professional activity. PR10. Know the basics of taxonomy, detection methods and identification of non-cellular life forms, prokaryotes and eukaryotes and apply them to address specific biological tasks. PR11. Understand the structural organization of biological systems at the molecular level.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. The student must be able to independently apply knowledge from molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc. disciplines to work with scientific and methodological literature. 2. Know: - Characteristics of proteins and nucleic acids; - Characteristics of different cell types (eukaryotes, prokaryotes, plants, bacteria); - Have the concept of immunity; - Principles of epidemiology; - Biochemical and biophysical research methods.
Course content
For almost a century, the development of virology has focused on viruses as infectious agents that cause disease in humans, domestic animals and crops. However, recent advances in the study of metagenomic sequences, particularly from environmental samples, have shown that in the biosphere, viruses predominate over all cellular life forms in quantity and, most importantly, in genetic diversity. An important place is given to the classification of viruses, genetics and molecular biology of viruses. Individual viral infections, their pathogenesis and epidemiology are considered in detail. Attention is paid to aspects of new and emerging-reimerging infections. One of the important theoretical issues in the development of virology as a science is the problem of integration and differentiation. Modern virological studies have pronounced integration nature.

Modular test work - content module 2 (MR2) (open questions + tests): PH 1.4.-1.5 (Block of topics of Section 2) - 15 points / 7.5 points. 3. Modular test work - content module 3 (MR3) (open questions + tests): PH 1.6, 2.1.-2.3 (Block of topics of Section 3) - 10 points / 5 points. 4. Evaluation of laboratory work: RN 2.1–2.3 - 10 points / 5 points 5. Abstract RN 3.1 - 10 points / 5 points - final assessment: in the form of an exam
