Learning outcomes
Know the basic concepts and definitions of the theory of creation and maintenance of databases (architecture, model, format of data presentation, essence and relationship). Understand the organization of relational and non-relational databases. Know the basic tools of data manipulation and query description languages. Understand the structure and processes of query formation. Be able to apply tools and methods of data actualization in the tasks of accumulation and multidimensional data mining. Be able to use relational and non-relational database models to solve practical problems of decision-making, optimization and processing of information, as well as to create and apply knowledge bases.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know the basic concepts of mathematical logic, discrete mathematics, basics of programming. Be able to solve typical problems from these courses. Have basic skills: solve problems in discrete mathematics and mathematical logic. To access the discipline "Fundamentals of Database Design" of the educational-professional program "Systems Analysis" the student must master the competencies and learning outcomes provided by the disciplines "Discrete Mathematics", "Mathematical Logic", "Fundamentals of Programming". The discipline "Fundamentals of Database Design" is the basis for mastering the disciplines "Data Analysis"
Course content
Compulsory discipline "Fundamentals of Database Design" is part of the educational and professional training program for the first (bachelor's) level of higher education in the field of knowledge 12 "Information Technology" in specialty 124 - "System Analysis", educational and professional program - "System" analysis". This subject is a compulsory subject in the System Analysis program. It is taught in the 4th semester of the 2nd year in the amount of 150 hours. (5 ECTS credits), in particular: lectures - 40 hours, laboratory - 30 hours, consultations - 2 hours, independent work - 78 hours. The course includes 2 substantive parts and 2 tests. The discipline ends with a test in the 4th semester.
