Learning outcomes
The student should know: modern scientific ideas and theoretical aspects of physical processes and phenomena, which are the basis of the functioning of biomedical devices and systems, the basics of directed formation of physical and mechanical properties of technical and biological materials and components, construction, maintenance and repair of modern medical equipment, integration of mechanical elements , sensors, actuators and electronics for diagnostics and treatment in medicine.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student must know: the basic laws, equations and relationships of atomic physics, quantum mechanics, statistical physics, molecular physics, medical physics, biological physics, biological chemistry and physiology at the level of a graduate of the Kyiv National University Taras Shevchenko University. The student should be able to: set physical, physico-chemical and biochemical problems, identify practically expedient approaches to their solution and to use mathematical methods necessary in each specific case at the undergraduate level of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University.
Course content
The discipline "Medical device construction" consists of two meaningful modules No. 1 "Biotechnical and medical-technical technologies" and No. 2 "Software and information technologies for processing and analysis of biology and medicine data". In the first of them, the development, construction, production, operation, repair, service, examination and certification of medical and biological devices and systems, assessment of compliance with technical regulations, standards of bioprotection and biosafety of biological and medical equipment are studied, in the second - biomedical products and biomaterials of medical purpose, artificial organs, as well as relevant software and information technology.

Assessment methods and criteria
The academic discipline has two substantive modules, each of which is assessed for 30 points. Final evaluation (in the form of an exam): the form of the exam is written and oral. The examination ticket consists of 2 questions (15 points each) and a problem, which is evaluated up to 10 points. In total, you can get from 0 to 40 points for the exam. A condition for achieving a positive grade for a discipline is obtaining at least 60 points, the grade for the exam cannot be less than 24 points.
