The student should know: chemical connection and structure of molecules, chemical properties of biogenic elements and their role in the vital activity of the organism, complex compounds and their use in medicine, redox reactions, solutions and their role in biochemical processes, thermodynamic and kinetic patterns of the course of processes biological systems, directionality of processes, electrokinetic phenomena.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student must know: the basic laws, equations and relationships of atomic physics, quantum mechanics, statistical physics, molecular physics, medical physics, biological physics, biological chemistry and physiology at the level of a graduate of the Kyiv National University
Taras Shevchenko University.
The student should be able to: set physical, physico-chemical and biochemical problems, identify practically expedient approaches to their solution and
to use mathematical methods necessary in each specific case at the undergraduate level of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University.
Course content
The discipline "Medical materials and technologies" consists of two meaningful modules No. 1 "Physico-chemistry of biogenic elements" and No. 2 "Biophysical chemistry". In the first of them, the chemical properties of biogenic elements and their role in the vital activity of the organism, complex compounds and their use in medicine, redox reactions are studied, in the second - thermodynamic and kinetic regularities of the course of processes in biological systems, directionality of processes, electrokinetic phenomena.

Assessment methods and criteria
The academic discipline has two substantive modules, each of which is assessed for 30 points. Final evaluation (in the form of an exam): the form of the exam is written and oral. The examination ticket consists of 2 questions (15 points each) and a problem, which is evaluated up to 10 points. In total, you can get from 0 to 40 points for the exam. A condition for achieving a positive grade for a discipline is obtaining at least 60 points, the grade for the exam cannot be less than 24 points.
