Learning outcomes
Learning by students of the theory of obtaining radar information against the background of noise, based on the methods of the statistical theory of signal detection and estimation of their parameters.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know the laws describing the behavior of electric circuits, the main types of analog and digital electronic devices used in radio electronics. To be able to use the apparatus of elementary and higher mathematics. Have basic skills in working with mathematical software packages.
Course content
Theory of optimal detection of signals. Fluctuating interference statistics. Algorithm for optimal detection of coherent signals against a background of white noise. Characteristics and models of masking passive interference. Qualitative indicators and optimality criteria for measuring the parameters of radar signals. Methods of measuring the range to the target. Range and speed resolution. The effective scattering surface of the simplest bodies. Prospects and directions of radar development.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures - 76 hrs, practical lessons - 44 hrs, independent work - 120 hrs, total - 240 hrs.
Assessment methods and criteria
The semester assessment is carried out by conducting three modular control papers, the first and third of which are assessed up to 15 points, and the second - up to 30 points, which makes the total semester assessment up to 60 points. Final evaluation in the form of an exam - up to 40 points.
