Learning outcomes
The formation of knowledge about the peculiarities of modern Ukrainian society, politics and power in a comparative context, the specifics of political science knowledge about the problems and trends of the development of society, politics and power.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) To know the peculiarities of the functioning and development of modern society, politics and power, human interaction with social and political institutions, special characteristics of modern Ukrainian society. 2) To be able to collect and interpret information about political processes. 3) Possess elementary skills of scientific research and information management.
Course content
1) History of foreign political teachings. 2) The political system as a mechanism for the formation and functioning of power in society. 3) Political parties and party systems. 4) Political leadership and political elites. 5) Theoretical foundations of democracy. 6) The state as the main institution of the political system. 7) Theories of the origin and characteristics of the state. 8) Forms of government and organization of the countries of the world. 9) The main trends in the development of modern world politics.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures - 14 hours, seminar lessons - 14 hours, independent work - 30 hours, consultations - 2 hour, total - 60 hours.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester evaluation: oral report, additions and participation in discussions at seminars (up to 60 points), independent creative work (up to 20 points), final control work (up to 20 points) - up to 100 points in total. There is no additional assessment at the test, the grade for the subject is formed entirely on the basis of the student's semester work.
