Learning outcomes
The student must know the concept of information, its properties; features; encoding and processing; general information about PC architecture: hardware and software; composition of PC functional blocks and their characteristics; PC hardware: processing devices, storage,. input, output and transmission of information; selection criteria and PC configuration requirements; composition and structure of PC software; preparation of text documents in the Microsoft Word environment; basic concepts and structure of electronic spreadsheets; functionality of the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet processor; basic concepts and structure of multimedia presentation.
The student must be able to collect, process, organize information using modern information technology, databases and other electronic resources; apply modern information and communication technologies; to provide documentary and information support for scientific projects; to present professional projects.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The discipline "Hardware and software" is included in the cycle of basic general education courses. To study it, it is necessary to have a stock of knowledge of informatics and
mathematics in the scope of secondary school. The knowledge and skills acquired during the study of the discipline "Hardware and software" will be useful when studying such disciplines as programming, computer modeling, numerical methods, mathematical statistics, etc.
Prerequisites:
- the student must know: basic knowledge at the level of a secondary school program in Informatics.
- the student must be able to: use a PC at the level of a secondary school program in Informatics.
Course content
The discipline is designed to form a certain worldview in the information field, as well as the development of information culture, that is, the ability to work purposefully with information, to professionally use computer information technologies, appropriate technical and software tools. A future specialist must possess not only professional knowledge, but also modern information technologies to process ever-increasing flows of information, so a student must acquire practical skills of working on a personal computer in the most common software environments, which include modern operating systems,
shells, service and application software tools.

Lectures, consultations; laboratory work; independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: the academic semester has 8 laboratory works. Mandatory for admission to the exam is: performance of laboratory work with a score of at least 36.
Final evaluation - in the form of an exam; the form of the exam is written and oral. In total, you can get from 0 to 40 points for the exam. A condition for achieving a positive grade for a discipline is obtaining at least 60 points, the grade for the exam cannot be less than 24 points.
