Learning outcomes
Knowledge: The subject, object, directions of research, significance of economic geography; the theories and concepts of the development and location of social production, research methods; the basic concepts of the economic geography; the factors and current trends in the development and location of agriculture, industry, sphere of services, etc. Skills: The search and systematization of economic-geographical information; The calculation of indicators to determine the level of specialization of regions, to assess the level of economic efficiency; the ability to interpret the results of research, and the formulation of research conclusions, etc.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful mastering of the course “Human Geography”. 2) the ability to analyze the features of natural and social processes in the geographical shell, to carry out a comprehensive assessment and monitoring of resources; 3) mastering the skills of working with cartographic sources, computer programs MS Word, MS Excel, software for using the Internet, conducting simple mathematical calculations, building logic diagrams.
Course content
The basic laws of spatial development of social production, the methods of conducting economic and geographical studies of countries and regions, the basic concepts of economic geography, the new trends in the development and location of main branches of the economy: agriculture, industry, transport, as well as scientific, recreational and tourist activities are teached. The geographical features of foreign-economic activity in the context of globalization are considered and the general principles of economic zoning of territories and regional economic policy are revealed.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course provides 3 informal parts. Classes are conducted in the form of lectures and seminars. The discipline ends with an exam. Semester assessment: the number of points that the student receives during the semester is the sum of the points obtained during the evaluation of work in seminar classes, participation in discussion, performance of analytical work, and thematic control works. Organization of assessment: work in seminar classes is evaluated upon completion, in accordance with the schedule of seminar classes. During the semester, thematic control works are conducted in the form of tests after consideration of relevant topics.
