Tasks of studying the discipline are aimed at acquiring the following competencies by the student: know the principles of legal regulation of relations in the use of the results of intellectual and creative activity; mechanism of intellectual property rights; grounds for acquiring legal protection by objects of intellectual property rights; be able to correctly interpret the content of national and international law on the qualification and classification of intellectual property rights; acquisition, disposal and protection of intellectual property rights.

Full-time form

Prerequisites for mastering the discipline: 1. Know the main aspects of the formation and development of legal institutions; general principles of legal support for the protection of the results of creative activity, acts of legislation governing relations in the field of protection of the rights to the results of intellectual and creative activity. 2. Be able to assess and determine the role and objectives of protection of intellectual property objects. 3. To have basic skills in preparing draft legal documents taking into account the peculiarities of the practical situation and, with the help of legal methods, to resolve disputes arising in the field of protection of intellectual property rights.

The discipline "Introduction to Intellectual Property" is part of professional training of specialists at Master in Law program, educational course "Intellectual Property" at the Education and Research Law School of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The main components of the discipline are the formation of competencies aimed at demonstrating knowledge of scientific approaches, basics of methodology and research methods of Intellectual Property Law; ability to evaluate and analyze legal issues and practical legal situations in the field of protection of intellectual property objects; ability to pursue further study with a high level of autonomy.

The study of the discipline includes lectures, seminars; polls (express survey)/testing/essay (reference paper) on the proposed topic; module tests; self-study, individual assignments; credit.

Types of ongoing intermediate performance evaluation include: express survey, report, scientific paper, testing (multiple choice tests), case solving (tasks), module test (final test). Things to be assessed in the process of ongoing intermediate performance evaluation are: the level of knowledge demonstrated by the student during seminars, the level of activity in discussing the issues of the seminar, systematic work in the classroom, the results of independent work. The discipline is taught for one term. 10 days before the beginning of the session, the teacher conducting the seminars no longer accepts missing assignments. For students who have not achieved the minimum level of assessment, a final test is conducted.

Ukrainian
