Learning outcomes
As a result of studying the academic discipline, the student must know:
● Phonetics: intonation, accentuation and rhythm, which are inherent in the English language.
● Vocabulary: lexical and lexical-grammatical units of a general and terminological nature.
● Grammar: grammatical structures.
● Speaking: lexical and grammatical material in the main communicative situations of informal and formal communication.
● Reading: the rules of reading in terms of sound and intonation.
● Writing: rules for writing a report-abstract on a given topic, instructions, advertisements, official documents (forms, questionnaires, etc.), notes with a request to provide simple information of immediate importance.
● Linguistics and intercultural communication: culture and traditions of English-speaking countries, rules of speech etiquette.

It is necessary to prepare according to the program of the comprehensive school in English.
Course content
Discipline is normative. The learning model has a modular, cyclical and thematic nature. The motivation for mastering a foreign language is the professional need of students who are preparing to become highly qualified specialists with knowledge of one or more languages. In view of this, one of the main features of the English language course in non-language higher education institutions is its division into two directions - "General language" and "Language for professional purposes". They differ in the subject matter and lexical composition of the educational material, but are based on the same grammatical material. According to the "General language" direction, formation and development of skills and abilities of all types of speech activity (listening, speaking, reading, writing) is carried out. Language learning takes place on text materials of everyday and general cognitive topics, as well as of a country science and cultural nature.

Assessment methods and criteria
Control is carried out according to the credit-module system. Each semester consists of two modules. The structure of each module includes three components: classroom work of the student, independent work of the student, modular control work. The student's current work is evaluated according to the ten-point system, according to the following scheme:
Auditory work of the student;
Independent work of student;
Modular control robot.
The final grade for each content module is a weighted average of grades for the classroom, independent and control work, is 40% of the resulting sum of points for the semester and is a maximum of 40 points. The resulting final sum of points for the first semester is calculated as a simple cumulative sum of the final points for the 2 content modules and the credit, which is valued at a maximum of 20 points, and is a maximum of 100 points
