The tasks of studying the discipline are aimed at the acquisition by the student of the following competencies: to communicate freely with the problems of media law; generate new ideas and use modern technologies in providing legal services in the media sphere; to take a productive part in the development of draft regulations in the media sphere, to substantiate the social conditionality of their adoption, to predict the results of their impact on public relations in the media sphere.

External form

Prerequisites for mastering the discipline: 1. Know the main aspects of the formation and development of legal institutions; general principles of legal regulation of information relations, acts of information legislation. 2. Be able to assess and determine the role and objectives of information rights protection. 3. Have basic skills in preparing draft legal documents, taking into account the specifics of the practical situation and using legal methods to resolve disputes arising in the media sphere.

The discipline "Media law" is part of professional training of specialists at Master in Law program, selective block "Information Law" at the Education and Research Law School of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The main components of the discipline are the formation of competencies aimed at demonstrating knowledge of scientific approaches, basics of methodology and research methods of media law; ability to evaluate and analyze legal problems and practical legal situations in the media sphere; ability to further study with a high level of autonomy.

The study of the discipline includes lectures, seminars; polls (express survey)/testing/essay (reference paper) on the proposed topic; module tests; self-study, individual assignments; exam.

Types of ongoing performance evaluation include: express survey, report, scientific paper, testing (multiple choice tests), case solving (tasks), module test (final test). Things to be assessed in the process of ongoing intermediate performance evaluation are: the level of knowledge demonstrated by the student during seminars, the level of activity in discussing the issues of the seminar, systematic work in the classroom, the results of independent work. The discipline is taught in two semesters. 10 days before the beginning of the session, the teacher running the seminars no longer accepts missing assignments. For students who have not achieved the minimum level of assessment, a final test is conducted.
