Learning outcomes
Students' achievement of such competencies, skills and abilities as:
Assess the nature and character of social processes and phenomena, and show understanding of the boundaries and mechanisms of their legal regulation.
Correlate the modern system of civilizational values with legal values, principles and professional ethical standards.
It is reasonable to formulate one's legal position, to be able to oppose, evaluate evidence and present convincing arguments.
Participate productively in theoretical and applied research in the field of law.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know the current family law of Ukraine and foreign countries, in particular, the Family Code of Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine "On Private International Law", special scientific literature, the recommended list of which is contained in the curriculum, as well as case law on family disputes;
Be able to freely operate with the conceptual and categorical apparatus in discussing and solving problem situations; apply rules in the field of regulation of family relations, including those complicated by a foreign element,
draft family law agreements and procedural documents.
Have basic skills in drafting court documents and using legal methods to resolve disputes arising from violations of family rights.
Course content
The discipline is a part of the cycle of professional training of applicants of educational level Master's degree in "Law" at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The system of the course "Family Law: Doctrine and Legal Practice" consists of two parts (modules).
The main components of the discipline are the formation of competencies aimed at: assessing and analyzing legal problems and practical legal situations related to the regulation of family relations, determining approaches to solving such problems; assess the legal problem comprehensively and offer different options for its solution in order to protect, defend and restore rights, freedoms or interests in the field of family relations; use of legal terminology for comprehensive and thorough presentation of legal issues in the field of family relations.

Lectures, seminars, self-studying work of the student on the basis of textbooks, abstracts, methodical recommendations, consultations with the teacher
Assessment methods and criteria
report (speech on a given topic) - from 2 to 5 points; supplement to the report - from 2 to 3 points; case resolution - from 3 to 5 points; colloquium - from 3 to 5 points; abstract (meaningful written work on a given topic with analysis of the literature and conclusions) - from 4 to 6 points; development of a draft document (private law transaction) - from 3 to 5 points; testing - from 3 to 5 points; final test - from 4 to 6 points.
The following are subject to assessment: the level of knowledge demonstrated in the response; activity in discussing issues; systematic work in the classroom; homework results.
Missing for good reason seminar classes a student can work in extracurricular time (teacher consultation time).
A student who has not reached the minimum threshold level of assessment (24 points) of those learning outcomes that cannot be assessed during the final control may be excluded from the final assessment.
