Know the legislation governing the media in the election process; current trends in the legal regulation of election campaigning, election debates and the legal status of political advertising in foreign countries; responsibility of the media for violating the election law. Be fluent in legal concepts and categories within the special course topics; be able to draw up claims, complaints and other procedural documents related to appeals against the actions of the media and public authorities during the election process. Be guided by the practice of application of electoral legislation by the courts of Ukraine in terms of legal regulation of the media during the election process and the practice of the European Court of Human Rights.

Full-time form

Possession of logical and analytical skills; skills of analysis of constitutional and legal phenomena, search for possible ways to solve legal problems on the basis of successful mastering the theory of state and law, constitutional law, theoretical problems of constitutional law. Of particular importance is the possession of basic concepts of the principles of constitutional law, freedom of speech and its limits.

The study of the discipline reveals the following issues: the role and importance of the media in providing information for the elections of People's Deputies of Ukraine; legal support for the media during the election of the President of Ukraine; the role and importance of the media in the information support of local elections; European standards of media activity during the election process; legal regulation of the use of political advertising during the election process in the United States.

Discussion of films that address the media in the election process ("The tail wags a dog"), discussion of possible changes in legislation and major trends in the legal regulation of social networks during the election process, webinars, lectures on youtube channels, discussions, modeling the media coverage of the election strategy of a political party in preparation for the election.

Ongoing and final performance evaluation is applied. Assessment methods - the type of work / activity of the applicant, which will assess the level of achievement of learning outcomes (testing, creative tasks, individual work, independent work, etc. and the minimum threshold after which a positive assessment is credited) - and evaluation criteria are communicated to applicants before beginning of the study of the discipline by a teacher who conducts seminars. At the ongoing and final performance evaluation are subject to assessment: the level of "Knowledge", "Understanding", "Application", "Analysis" / "Synthesis" / "Evaluation", demonstrated by the applicant. The maximum total number of points the applicant can score in the ongoing performance evaluation - 40, in the exam - 60. The final score for the discipline is set on a 100-point scale (ECTS) and a national scale.
