Learning outcomes
Tasks of studying the discipline are aimed at acquiring the following competencies by the student: formulate a personal reasoned legal position, be able to oppose, evaluate evidence and provide persuasive arguments; formulate personal reasoned judgments based on the analysis of a concrete problem in the field of intellectual property; demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the basic modern legal doctrines, values and principles of functioning of the national legal system of protection of results of intellectual, creative activity; provide advice on possible ways of protection of clients' rights and interests in the field of intellectual property in various legal situations.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prerequisites for mastering the discipline: 1. Know the main aspects of the formation and development of legal institutions; general principles of legal regulation of property and non-property relations. 2. Be able to assess and determine the role and objectives of protection of civil rights' objects. 3. To have basic skills in preparing draft legal documents taking into account the peculiarities of the practical situation and with the help of legal methods to resolve disputes arising.
Course content
The discipline "Fundamentals of Intellectual Property" is part of professional training of specialists at Bachelor in Law program cycle at the Education and Research Law School of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The main components of the discipline are the formation of competencies aimed at demonstrating knowledge of scientific approaches, basics of methodology and research methods of intellectual property law; ability to evaluate and analyze legal issues and practical legal situations in the field of protection of intellectual property objects.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The study of the discipline includes lectures, seminars; polls (express survey)/testing/essay (reference paper) on the proposed topic; module tests; self-study, individual assignments; credit.
Assessment methods and criteria
Types of ongoing performance evaluation include: express survey, report, scientific paper, testing (multiple choice tests), case solving (tasks), module test (final test). Things to be assessed in the process of ongoing performance evaluation are: the level of knowledge demonstrated by the student during seminars, the level of activity in discussing the issues of the seminar, systematic work in the classroom, the results of independent work. The discipline is taught in two semesters. 10 days before the beginning of the session, the teacher conducting the seminars no longer accepts missing assignments. For students who have not achieved the minimum level of assessment, a final test is conducted.
