Learning outcomes
As a result of studying the academic discipline, the student should know:
basic principles and laws of physics, their mathematical formulation and physical meaning;
the main directions of modern physical research and the problems that physicists are working on; the main modern achievements of physics and their application in various fields of science, production and everyday life.
be able:
formulate the basic principles and write down the laws of physics, explain their physical meaning;
analyze physical phenomena and perform calculations of the main types of atomic and molecular systems and their interaction with electromagnetic radiation, evaluate the accuracy of calculations.
Work independently with educational and methodological and reference literature on modern physics.

Course content
The basic normative educational discipline "Modern problems of physics" is a component of the cycle of professionally oriented disciplines according to the list of training programs for specialists of the educational qualification level "master". The goal and task of the discipline is to master the basics of modern theoretical and practical knowledge of modern physics problems. This includes knowledge of the basic laws of theoretical physics, mastering the methods and principles of studying physics
phenomena, as well as the results of modern experiments, performing measurements and solving problems.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The total volume is 90 hours, including: Lectures - 30 hours. Independent work - 60 hours
Assessment methods and criteria
Control is carried out according to the modular rating system.
Content module 1 (ЗМ1) includes:
1. Interaction of radiation with matter
2. Widths and profiles of spectral lines.
Content module 2 (ЗМ2) - topics:
1. Characteristics of laser radiation.
2. Application of the laser in modern experiments.
Attending lectures and completing independent work tasks during the semester are mandatory for the exam.
Forms of current control: evaluation of the results of studying the material of lectures and independent work of students. When assigning points for the module, the following are taken into account:
- the quality of processing the lecture material, - knowledge and understanding - is checked during colloquiums and colloquium-control papers.
- knowledge and understanding of the material, degree of student activity in the pre-lecture survey, quality of homework;
- the quality of the student's independent work when performing appropriate tasks for independent work
