Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Before starting this course, students should know the general chronology and content the main historical events in Antiquity;
2. To be able to carry out an initial analysis of the content of philosophical primary sources;
3. Possess elementary skills of scientific research.
Course content
The discipline "History of Ancient Philosophy" acquaints students with the content of the philosophical works of prominent thinkers of Antiquity in their historical and cultural context. The subject, tasks, theoretical foundations, general methodology and main directions of research in the philosophy of antiquity are determined.
The key principles of the emergence of the philosophical thought of Antiquity, ancient India and China are outlined. The skills of understanding and interpreting the philosophical thoughts of prominent thinkers of Antiquity, identifying their historical connection and explaining their theoretical origins are formed.

Assessment methods and criteria
The final number of points for the discipline (maximum 100 points) is defined as the sum of points for systematic work during the semester, taking into account the final test. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures.
For students who scored a total of less than the critical minimum of 60 points, in order to receive credit, it is necessary to complete the missed topics in writing and submit/send by e-mail to the teacher conducting the seminar classes.
Thus, the final grade for the discipline (minimum 60, maximum 100 points) consists of the sum of the number of points for the semester work (minimum 48, maximum 80 points) and the final test (minimum 12, maximum 20 points).
