Prerequisites and co-requisites
To successfully complete the course, students must know: theoretical foundations of philological science (linguistics and literary studies) and cultural studies; to have: the practice of translating a Chinese-language text, the skills of literary and cultural analysis of original works; be able to: operate with cultural information when translating and interpreting Chinese-language texts.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to provide Chinese students with a list of methods used during oral and written translations in the "Chinese-Ukrainian language" plane.Abstract. The course "Methodology of Interpretation and translation from Chinese Language" has a research orientation and is aimed at forming a system of knowledge and skills in students regarding the methods and strategies of Chinese-Ukrainian translation. The course has 2 content modules. Within the first module, knowledge about the methods of oral translation in the plane of "Chinese-Ukrainian languages" is consolidated in practice. Within the framework of the second module, information on the methods of written translation is systematized. The discipline ends with an exam.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides for the following forms of training organization: practical classes and unsupervised work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: classwork (oral answers), creative projects (presentations, analytical reports), modular control work. A student can score a maximum of 100 points and a minimum of 60 points for performing the prescribed types of work (including the exam). In detail, the criteria for evaluating the types of works during the semester are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
The overall grade is formed from the points received for work during the semester (maximum – 60 points, minimum – 36 points) and points of the final assessment in the form of an exam (maximum – 40 points, minimum – 24 points). The format of the exam is oral, the exam ticket consists of two tasks: 1 theoretical question (on terminology (10%), translation strategies and methods (10%) which is evaluated with 20 points; 1 practical task (translation of a text fragment), which is also evaluated with a maximum of 20 points. The exam is conducted according to the Learning outcomes: LR 1.1, LR 1.2, LR 1.3; LR 3.1; LR 4.1. Detailed evaluation criteria are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
