Learning outcomes
PLO 8. To evaluate historical heritage and the latest achievements of philological science, in particular folkloristics PLO 11. Carry out a scientific analysis of folklore material, interpret and structure it taking into account classical and modern methodological principles, formulate generalizations based on independently processed data PLO 18. Present the results of your research to the scientific community in scientific publications or speeches at conferences, round tables, seminars, etc.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
⮚ to know: the general methodology of folkloristics and basic research methods; folklore terminology; genre paradigm of ritual and non-ritual folklore; poetic means inherent in prose folklore works; the main differences between archaic, classical and modern folklore. ⮚ Be able to work with various sources of educational and scientific information, process it, make generalizations and conclusions; operate with basic terms and concepts; to determine universal motifs and specifically national motifs of one or another genre; characterize the compositional features of various genres; to carry out an analysis of the figurative system and symbolic paradigm of folklore works. ⮚ Possess elementary skills of scientific research, search and processing of educational and scientific information; use of foreign language professional informative sources.
Course content
Tasks (educational goals): to acquaint students with folk art of different peoples of the world from antiquity to the present; outline the paradigm of the most widely used world folklore genres and its principles; consider ritual and non-ritual folklore of the peoples of Europe, Asia, Africa, Siberia, South and North America; to determine the national uniqueness of folklore and global phenomena in folk poetic creativity; develop students' skills in processing foreign-language folklore texts, as well as scientific and theoretical works on folklore studies.

Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, after the lectures on the relevant topics, seminar classes are held, during which evaluation is carried out. The program also provides for a scientific seminar at which students deliver a scientific report. The discipline ends with an exam. Students who scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 36 points are not allowed to take the exam. The semester final grade is formed by the points obtained by the student in the process of performing the types and forms of learning (oral response; addition, participation in the discussion; blitz survey; case assignment; presentation; scientific report) and obtained in the exam. The maximum distribution is carried out according to the following algorithm: 60 points (60%) - semester control and 40 points (40%) - exam.
