Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before studying the discipline the student should:
know theory of folklore, semiotics of folklore text creation, genreology, customary law and ritual culture;
be able to select, study and systematize scientific sources on a specific issue;
have the skills of analyzing a folklore text as a creolized phenomenon.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is the interpretation of the subjective-imaginative system and the theoretical substantiation of the ontological categories of folklore, as well as the preparation of the students of the first year of study (Master program) for the professional analysis of the folklore text taking into account the latest scientific methods and the writing of a master's scientific thesis.
Annotation. The discipline is aimed at the study of verbal and non-verbal texts of the folk tradition, which make up the syncretic integrity of the folklore phenomenon. The object of the study is the texts of various genres of folklore, and the subject is the trial structural organization of the subjectivity of the text, the elements of which are in an equal polylogy between the subjectivity of the ethnos, society and the individual.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course includes 2 content parts. The first part is devoted to the study of the constitutive components of folklore, in particular the motif as a central component of фольклору, зокрема мотиву як центрального компонента етносубʼєктності, друга – студіює соціосубʼєктність та індивідуальну субʼєктність. ethnosubjectivity, the second part studies sociosubjectivity and individual subjectivity. The classes are held in the form of the lectures and seminars, which are evaluated according to the types of work and forms of control. A scientific seminar is held no later than the last lecture week, at which the students present an independently prepared scientific report on one of the topical problems of modern folklore studies.The discipline ends with an exam. The students who scored a total of less than the critical-calculated minimum - 36 p., are not allowed to take the exam.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides two-level assessment of the learned material, assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge) – 40% of the total mark, and assessment of practical training – learning outcomes (skills, communication, autonomy and responsibility) – 60% of the total mark.
Assessment of the semester work: oral answer at the seminar – 4/2 points, doing two individual tasks – 8/5 points, writing a test – 20/14 points. The general mark for the semester consists of the points obtained for the classroom work, which also synthesizes independent work on studying theoretical material in order to prepare for the classroom work. All the types of the work for the semester have a total of 60/36 points. The discipline ends with an exam in the form of a written test (40 / 24 points).
