Learning outcomes
PLO 7. To analyze, compare and classify different trends and schools in Linguistics.
PLO 9. To characterize theoretical principles (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) and applied aspects of the chosen linguistic specialization.
PLO 16. To use specialized conceptual knowledge in a chosen linguistic field to solve complex tasks and issues, which require updates and integration of knowledge, often under conditions of incomplete or lacking information and contradictory requirements.

Introduction to Linguistics.
General Linguistics (Topics covered: emergence and development of language; language and speech; form and content of language elements; development of the lexical composition of language; word meaning; changes in lexical meaning of words).
Phonetics of Modern German Language.
Lexicology of Modern German Language.
Grammar of Modern German Language.
Stylistics of Modern German Language.
Course content
The discipline is dedicated to the study of issues that explore the relationship between language and consciousness, the role of language in conceptualizing and categorizing the world, in cognitive processes and the generalization of human experience, as well as the connection between individual cognitive abilities and language and the forms of their interaction. Attention is given to the category of knowledge, the problem of types of knowledge and the ways of their representation through language. Language is presented as a means of capturing, storing, processing, and transmitting knowledge.
