Learning outcomes
PLO 7. To analyze, compare and classify different trends and schools in Linguistics. PLO 9. To characterize theoretical principles (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) and applied aspects of the chosen linguistic specialization. PLO 13. To explain the essence of both specific linguistic issues and one’s point of view and its justification to experts and laypeople in an accessible and argumentative manner, particularly to individuals who are studying. PLO 16. To use specialized conceptual knowledge in a chosen linguistic field to solve complex tasks and issues, which require updates and integration of knowledge, often under conditions of incomplete or lacking information and contradictory requirements.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The program is designed for students who have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills through practical and theoretical courses within the Bachelor's and Master's educational programs in the first year of study. The students are expected to know the basic concepts and main directions of development in linguistics and business communication, as well as the psychological and pedagogical principles of communicative competence. They should be able to apply systematic knowledge in psychology and foreign language teaching methodology and possess skills in selecting, analyzing, systematizing, and interpreting linguistic facts. Furthermore, they should be capable of engaging in communication on linguistic topics.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to familiarize students with the subject, structure, and methods of modern psycholinguistics, as well as to develop an understanding of the peculiarities of language functioning, thinking, and speech. Its subject matter includes the study of psycholinguistics as a science, the main directions in psycholinguistics, methods of psycholinguistic research, and psycholinguistic processes of language generation, perception, and formation. Knowledge in psycholinguistics enables the application of basic psycholinguistic methodologies, identification of national and universal characteristics in speech, and characterization of the peculiarities of communicative influence on the structure of consciousness. The teaching is conducted through lectures, seminars, and independent student work. The discipline concludes with an examination at the end of the semester.
