Prerequisites and co-requisites
The master's qualification work involves conducting an independent scientific research in the field of linguistics, literary studies, translation studies and methods of teaching the Turkish language. The preliminary and additional requirements for the successful defense of the master's thesis are: mastery of the structure and requirements for writing a master's thesis, mastery of the content of the subject area in the context of the subject of the master's thesis, mastery of the state of research on the problem of the master's thesis in domestic and foreign science, the ability to formulate the purpose and objectives of the master's thesis, the ability to conduct a bibliographic search using modern information technologies, the ability to apply.
Course content
The master's qualification thesis is chosen by the student thematically and includes the following aspects: The master's qualification work in language is a student's research work aimed at independent analysis of the problems of modern linguistics, creative fulfillment of the linguistic task. A master's thesis in literature is a student's research work aimed at independent analysis of the problems of modern literary studies, creative fulfillment of the literary task. A master's thesis in translation is a research paper by a student aimed at an independent analysis of the problems of modern translation studies and the creative solution of a translation studies task. The work is submitted to the examination committee in writing in the approved form. The public defense of the master's thesis takes place in the form of an oral report or presentation using various forms of visualization.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Writing a master's thesis involves structuring the work according to its individual main stages, which are directly or indirectly included in the final grade: choosing a topic; consulting with the supervisor; collecting material; studying sources and scientific theoretical, methodological and critical literature; drawing up a plan; writing the work; proper formatting of the work; defense. In modern research on linguistics, literary studies, translation studies, teaching foreign languages and literatures, various research methods of theoretical and empirical levels are actively used. Theoretical methods include methods of analysis and synthesis, abstraction and detailing, modeling, induction, deduction, etc. Empirical methods include observation, surveys, testing, experimentation, etc. The master's qualification work involves a very important stage of selection, systematization, study of theoretical and other information sources on the chosen research problem.
Assessment methods and criteria
100 points are the sum of points for defense (45), review (45), and supervisor's feedback (10). Review: 1. Degree of fulfillment of the supervisor's tasks: 0-2 points. 2. The degree of development the working with sources skills: 0-2 points. 3. The degree of independence of the research: 0-2 points. 4. The degree of elimination of the supervisor's comments: 0-2 points. 5. Compliance with deadlines: 0-2 points. Overview: 1. Relevance: 0-5 points; 2. Novelty and practical significance: 0-5 points; 3. Personal contribution of the researcher: 0-5 points; 4. Familiarity with scientific sources: 0-5 points; 5. Realization of the goal: 0-5 points; 6. Compliance with the requirements of the scientific style: 0-5 points; 7. Possession of abstracting skills: 0-5 points; 8. Structure and logic of the composition: 0-5 points; 9. Compliance of the scope of work with the established requirements: 0-3 points; 10. Formalization of references: 0-2 points.
