Learning outcomes
PLO2. Confidently speak the state language, Turkish, a second Turkic language and English for written and oral communication, in particular in situations of professional and scientific communication; present the results of their research in the state, Turkish and English.
PLO14. Create, analyze and edit texts of different styles and genres.
PLO19. Possess the necessary knowledge and skills to provide translation from Turkish into Ukrainian or English and vice versa at various stages of the judicial process, during conferences of various professional orientations and in other areas and fields of activity.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know: functional styles and genres of English speech.
Be able to: perceive, select, critically comprehend and interpret information from English-language academic sources to solve educational and professional problems; correctly use language tools/terminology in English oral and written speech; decode speaker's intentions by analyzing communication strategies in oral and written speech; analyze, compare, contrast linguistic and speech phenomena at the level of sentence, paragraph, text; professionally operate with linguistic terms to explain the analyzed phenomena; analyze, create and edit English-language texts of various genres; perform and present educational and research projects and work in a project team; translate texts of academic and business discourse into Ukrainian.
Possess basic skills: recognize rhetorical strategies and relate them to the communicative purpose of the text.
Course content
The course "Academic and Business Speaking and Translation" aims to improve students' socio-cultural, linguistic and translation competencies and increase the effectiveness of academic and business communication in English by: familiarizing students with the peculiarities of academic and business discourses, systematizing knowledge of linguistic means and rhetorical strategies of the English language in these discourses, developing students' skills in using these means in various situations of academic and business communication and in translation. This course is a basic discipline within the program of training of specialists at the educational qualification level "Master", specialization: 035.068 "Philology (Oriental Languages and Literatures (translation inclusive), FIRST - Turkish".

Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, in particular, the assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge), which accounts for 40% of the total grade, and the assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills), which accounts for 60% of the total grade.
Assessment of semester work:
1. Audit work (participation in discussions of the topics studied): 11 - 20 points.
2. Project work: 17 - 30 points.
3. Academic essay (integrated reading and writing skills): 13 - 20 points.
4. Academic essay (integrated listening and writing skills): 13 - 20 points.
5. Module test: 6 - 10 points.
