            PLO 7 Analyse, compare and classify different trends and schools in Turkish linguistics and Turkic literature.

            Successful completion of the course requires master's students to have basic knowledge of the history of Turkic literature and the literature of Turkey, as the learning objectives of the discipline are to acquaint students with the basic concepts of comparative literature; to analyse the contemporary literature of Turkey and Turkic countries; to give students an idea of the works of writers from Turkey and Turkic countries, highlighting common and distinctive features in their literary works. Prior to taking this course, students should know the main characteristics of Turkic culture and have a good command of Turkish language, which meets the communication needs for reading works in the original and translation.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            The discipline "Comparative Literature: Contemporary Literature of Turkey and Turkic Countries" introduces students to the basic and conceptual principles of analysis of the contemporary Turkic literary process and the peculiarities of comparative analysis of works of fiction by Turkish and Turkic writers. The study of this discipline involves a detailed analysis of Turkish literature after the establishment of the Republic of Turkey headed by Kemal Ataturk and its comparative analysis with the contemporary literature of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan (late twentieth century to the present). The discipline involves the analysis of literary material, taking into account appropriate methodological principles. The planned independent work in the discipline contributes to the formulation of a generalisation of information about the modern literary process of Turkey and Turkic countries on the basis of independently processed data.

            Planned learning activities and teaching methods
        
        
            Work with the works of Turkic and Turkish writers, analysis and comparison of their works and biographies; oral response, preparation and defence of presentations, module tests.
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, in particular, assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge), which is 40% of the total grade, and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills), which is 60% of the total grade. 
Assessment of semester work:
1. Work in seminar classes: 10 - 26 points.
2. Presentations: 2 - 4 points.
3. Module tests #1 and #2: 13 -15 points.
4. Exam: 24 - 40 points.
