Learning outcomes
PLO 6. Communicate freely in national and foreign languages orally and in writing to discuss professional issues, present the results of research and projects.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting the course, master's students must successfully master the following academic disciplines: "Practice of the English Language", "Ukrainian Language Stylistics", "Theoretical Grammar of the Ukrainian Language", "Lexicology of the Ukrainian Language", "Introduction to Linguistics" and know: basic linguistic concepts; principles of language material analysis; peculiarities of semantics, structure and functioning of units of all levels of the English language; be able to: apply linguistic tools in practice; to have basic skills of selection, analysis and interpretation of speech facts; communication on linguistic topics.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the provisions of communication theory and students to master approaches to studying texts in various spheres of communication.
Abstract. The educational discipline consists of four parts: the first highlights the problems related to the definition of the main concepts and areas of application of the theory of communication and its connection with other disciplines, the second part is devoted to the consistent study of such types of communication as interpersonal, group and mass, the third part is devoted to the problems of intercultural communication, the fourth part considers corporate communication. The study of this discipline, firstly, allows deepening and clarifying the knowledge gained by students in the process of mastering other subjects, primarily the linguistic cycle, and secondly, provides an opportunity to obtain highly specialized knowledge in the field of communication and master the skills of scientific analysis of texts belonging to various genres institutional, artistic and interpersonal discourses.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course includes 4 content parts, which are devoted to the study of communication models; familiarization with research methods in the theory of communication; understanding of culture as communication, a system of creating, preserving and processing information; filling in the concept of corporate communication; formation of approaches to the study of corporate discourse, etc. Forms of education: lectures, seminars, scientific seminar, independent work. Throughout the semester, after the lectures on the relevant topics, seminar classes are held, which are evaluated according to the types of work (oral response, supplement, report at a scientific seminar, blitz survey, participation in discussions at lectures and seminar classes, midterm control, exam). A scientific seminar is held no later than the last lecture week, at which students present an independently prepared scientific report on current issues of modern intercultural communication.
Assessment methods and criteria
A two-level assessment of the learned material, assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge) - 40% of the total assessment, and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills, communication, autonomy and responsibility - 60% of the overall assessment .
The overall grade for the semester consists of points obtained for classroom work (which synthesizes and independent work on processing theoretical material for classroom preparation: oral answers, additions, blitz surveys, intermediate control tests, presentation of a scientific report) and for independent work (preparation reports). The final assessment is a credit that does not involve additional activities, but is achieved by accumulating points during the semester.
