Program Learning Outcomes PLO 18.2. Know and analyze concepts, trends, patterns in modern literary process in Ukraine (in the European context). PLO Аu. 2. Be able to recognize the importance of lifelong learning with the aim of increasing the acquired knowledge and gaining new professional knowledge to enhance personal development skills and to effectively organize the educational process. Successful mastery of the discipline builds on prior knowledge of literary analysis theory; social and historical background of the development of Ukrainian literature in the XXI century; characteristics of the development of modern poetry, prose and drama in the European context; modern trends in world literature development, their impact on the genre and stylistic features of modern Ukrainian literature. Course participants are expected to be able to analyze the ideological and artistic content of literary works in the context of the current requirements of modern literary criticism; navigate in modern scientific and critical literature on the problems of development of modern Ukrainian and European lyrics, prose and drama; to possess skills in tracing the relationship between modern Ukrainian literature and world literature, folk art, painting, music, and other forms of art.

The course aims to provide a professional study of the main trends in the genre and style development of modern Ukrainian literature in the European context as the final stage of studying the history of Ukrainian literature; to build in students objective scientific knowledge about the literary process at the turn of the 20th-21st centuries, to deepen the understanding of the development characteristics of modern poetry, prose, drama, criticism and literary studies based on the study of iconic works of Ukrainian literature in the 20th-21st centuries, to improve professional possession of the optimal volume of literary concepts and terms necessary for the full analysis and interpretation of fiction texts. Abstract. The course consolidates and deepens basic knowledge of the history of Ukrainian literature, in particular the patterns of development of the historical and literary process in relations with world literature and culture; continues a systematic study of outstanding modern literary phenomena in a variety of styles and genres, of innovative changes in the cultural and stylistic era at the turn of the 20th-21st centuries, marked by search and experimentation; allows students to determine the features of modern lyric poetry, drama, fiction and romance as well as specifics of their genre-specific and generic-species diffusions.

The course is delivered in Ukrainian through the lectures, seminars and autonomous work, and teaching methods: academic discussion, problem solving lecture, academic conversation, research work. Major activities performed by the students include seminar discussions; creative assignment: scientific report/presentation, and module test. During the term a student can score a maximum of 100 points and a minimum of 60 points for these activities that are components of formative assessment. The course ends with a credit.

With a 100-point assessment system used, the semester final grade is a sum of the points earned for the formative assessment which is delivered through seminar discussions - 50 max, and a min of 25 points; creative assignment: scientific report/presentation - 25 max, and a min of 17 points; module test - 25 max, and a min of 18 points. The maximum distribution is carried out according to the following algorithm: 100 points (100%) – semester control, and a minimum of 60 points (60%). Assessment on learning outcomes: LO 1.1-1.3; LO 2.1-2.6; LO 3.1-3.3; LO 4.1-4.3.
