Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful performance in this discipline builds on prior mastering of the courses in Communication Strategies of English Business and Academic Discourse (level C1) and Modern Technologies of Teaching English in Academic High School. Students are required to possess essential knowledge of the theoretical and methodological foundations of foreign language teaching; of psychological bases of teaching a foreign language in profession-oriented high school; of the theory of teaching technology modelling; of academic activity concepts in the field of Education. The course prerequisites also emphasise the ability to effectively organise the process of teaching a foreign language in high school in accordance with learning purposes and conditions; to use modern methods as well as foreign language teaching technologies and diagnostic monitoring of students' foreign language skills and knowledge; to develop and test foreign language teaching technologies.
Course content
The course is designed to provide an opportunity to develop and evaluate aspiring English teachers' competence in an actual classroom within school settings; to plan, organize and manage school/classroom process; to fulfil responsibilities as a teacher; to research, develop and implement new teaching methods. Abstract. Production practice is an integral component of qualification assignment 2320 (a secondary school teacher (Ukrainian language and literature, foreign language)). Production practice covers the following activities: observing host teachers and peers' lessons, conducting post-lesson discussions, delivering English lessons, conducting final lessons, developing lesson plans, implementing own innovative teaching techniques, designing curriculum lesson plan, ensuring effective communication and participation between teachers and learners. The mode of the practice is full-time / online. Teacher training institutions are profession-oriented high schools such as lyceums, gymnasiums, colleges, specialized high schools, technical training institutes and vocational schools. Teacher training institutions are defined annually in accordance with contracts made previously with secondary schools.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Major activities performed by students in school include: 1. observing host teachers' lessons (at least 5 lessons); 2. observing peers' lessons (at least 5 lessons); 3. planning, designing and teaching English language classes within a range of 20 lessons in 3 weeks; 4. conducting 2 final lessons to evaluate and provide feedback on student work; 5. implementing own innovative teaching techniques; 6. designing curriculum lesson plan (for one class); 7. ensuring effective communication and participation between teachers and learners; 8. preparing reporting documentation.
Assessment methods and criteria
With a 100-point assessment system used, a final grade for the course is a sum of the points obtained during the practice: 1) observing host teachers' lessons - max. 10, min. 6; 2) observing peers' lessons - max. 10, min. 6; 3) planning, designing and teaching English language classes - max. 30, min. 18; 4) conducting 2 final lessons to evaluate and provide feedback on student work - max. 10, min. 6; 5) implementing own teaching techniques - max. 20, min. 12; 6) designing curriculum lesson plan (for one class) - max. 5, min. 3; 7) ensuring effective communication and participation between teachers and learners - max. 10, min. 6; 8) preparing reporting documentation - max. 5, min. 3. A student can score a maximum of 100 points and a minimum of 60 points. Assessment on learning outcomes: LO 1.1-1.4; LO 2.1-2.7; LO 3.1-3.3; LO 4.1-4.4.
