Prerequisites and co-requisites
To be eligible for the course students are required to know: the peculiarities of linguistic didactics as a science and branch methods, the peculiarities of pedagogical discourse, a set of strategies and tactics of a teacher of philology; be able: to develop a language learning course in programs, plans, textbooks, to use methods, techniques in different organizational forms of teaching in different learning systems, to build sets of exercises and tasks for students to learn various aspects of language and speech, to prepare lessons for students using tools of different linguistic didactic systems; to successfully learn the basics of pedagogy (teaching), methods of teaching the Ukrainian language at school.
Course content
This course aims to provide master's students with knowledge of the conceptual foundations of linguistic didactics, concepts of modern language education, methodology and categorical apparatus of linguistic didactics; to acquaint master's students with modern methods, techniques and forms of teaching the Ukrainian language from the standpoint of approaches, concepts, and theories; examples of the organization of teaching the Ukrainian language taking into account profiling on the basis of various approaches. Abstract.This course is an obligatory academic discipline and it belongs to the cycle of scientific and practical training of a Master’s degree student; the course is based on fundamental provisions of foreign and domestic linguistic, communicative approach in learning languages. The course will assist a student realize the responsible role of a teacher in the educational process. It aims to provide formation of scientific-methodological competence of Master’s students: practices and skills to process the theory and improve the practice of teaching the Ukrainian language, project teaching strategies and techniques, plan, organize and approbate scientific and methodological propositions for implementing them into the process of teaching the Ukrainian language, carry out research projects while teaching, control and assess academic achievements of students, apply innovations in different methodological paradigms. The course contributes to the formation of the ability to scientifically justify and make proposals concerning school textbooks and school programs, standards, concepts; process procedural documentation, apply different technologies, techniques, approaches, methods, principles, language learning tools; analyze domestic and international experience and evaluate the information sources used for solving educational/ professional problems.

Practical classes, seminars, lectures, independent work and methods of teaching: scientific dispute, project technology, modelling of professional situations, training.
Assessment methods and criteria
The total score for the semester is formed by points earned by a student for the following activities: an answer on the practical session, module project. During the semester, a student can score maximum of 60 points and minimum of 36 points. The discipline ends with an exam The semester final grade is formed by points earned by a student during the semester (formative assessment) and points received in an exam ( summative assessment), the maximum division is carried out according to the following algorithm: 60 points (60%) –( Formative assessment) and 40 points (40%) – exam (Summative assessment)). Summative assessment is an exam that integrates 3 writing assignments (an exam card contains three tasks: I – max 10 points, II – max 15 points, II – max 15 points (total 40 points)) according to the learning outcomes: LO 1.1; LO 1.2; LO 1.3; LO 1.4; LO 2.1; LO 2.3; LO 2.4.
