Learning outcomes
PLO 10. Know the system of the first foreign language. PLO 13. Know the norms of the first foreign language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO 15. Analyse language units, determine their interaction and characterise language phenomena and processes that cause them. PLO 17. Use the first foreign language in oral and written form, in different genre and style varieties and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), to solve communicative problems in various spheres of life.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student must successfully master the following academic disciplines: "Introduction to linguistics", "Comparative lexicology of the first foreign and Ukrainian languages", "Comparative grammar of the first foreign and Ukrainian languages", "Practical foreign language course" and know: basic linguistic concepts; principles of language material analysis; peculiarities of semantics, structure and functioning of units of all levels of the Italian language; basics of communication theory; be able to: apply linguistic tools in practice; to have basic skills of selection, analysis and interpretation of speech facts; communication on linguistic topics.
Course content
The educational discipline consists of two parts: the first "Basic Concepts of Stylistics", "Theory of Figures" is aimed at mastering the basic concepts of the theory of stylistics, as well as studying the stylistic differentiation of the Italian vocabulary and the stylistic possibilities of means of other language levels; the second "Functional stylistics. Theory of figures" highlights the system of functional styles of the modern Italian language, and also aims to familiarize with the modern theory of figures. The educational discipline, firstly, continues the development of the terminological language apparatus, the study of the theory of language, and secondly, the practical and theoretical mastery of the Italian language as such, which was started in the junior courses, the development of skills related to the field of professional activity. Classes are held in the form of lectures and seminars. The discipline ends with an exam.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Educational activities during the semester: lectures, practical classes, tasks that are performed in the process of independent work, namely: participation in discussions, additions; answers in practical classes; preparation and defense of presentations.
Assessment methods and criteria
Evaluation criteria: oral answer max. - 20 points, additions max. - 6 points, participation in discussions max. - 20 points. Presentation preparation max. - 7 points defense of the presentation max.–7 points. The maximum number of points during the semester is 60. The minimum is 36. The course ends with an exam - 24/40.
