Course content
The aim of the discipline is to study the word as the central unit of language in terms of its structural, word-formation and semantic characteristics, as well as the general features of the vocabulary of the Spanish language in comparison with the Ukrainian language, the ability to conduct a comparative analysis of the vocabulary of the two languages in terms of coincidences and discrepancies in order to avoid interlingual interference and "false friends of the translator". The course consists of theoretical (lecture) and practical parts. The lecture part of the course is devoted to such areas of lexicology as general word theory, semantics (semantic structure of words and semantic relations between units of vocabulary), word formation, word etymology and phraseology, stratification of Spanish vocabulary, lexicography. At the end of the lecture course, students write the first module test. Practical classes are devoted to consolidating theoretical knowledge and its
practical application in lexicological analysis. The cycle of practical classes also ends with a module test. At the end of the course, students take an oral exam, which includes two theoretical questions and a practical task on analysing lexical phenomena in Spanish and Ukrainian from a comparative perspective.
