Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non-experts in Ukrainian, Spanish and English, in oral and in written form, use these languages to ensure effective cross-cultural communication. PLO 9. Characterize dialect and social varieties of Spanish and English, to describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO 10. Know the rules of standard language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques necessary to produce oral and written texts of different genres and styles in Ukrainian, Spanish and English. PLO 14. Use Spanish and English in oral and written form, in different genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of parts 1 and 2 of the discipline "Practical Spanish Language Course" (1st year, 1st and 2nd semester), of the complex discipline "Introduction to the speciality". Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of phonetics, grammar, culture of speech of Ukrainian and Spanish.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to develop the linguistic competence of philologists-translators for whom Spanish is the first working language. The discipline is a profile and is one of the mandatory components of the educational and professional program. It involves the development of pronunciation, oral and written communication skills by the end of the teaching discipline, understanding without a dictionary adapted literary and socio-political literature, reading with a dictionary original texts of medium difficulty, the ability to listen to adapted texts and dialogues within the studied topics. Teaching is based on a combination of traditional and communicative methods. In all four semesters, the discipline ends with an exam.

Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, the assessment is carried out in accordance with the types of work and forms of control described in section 7.1. The min. grade for the semester is 36 points, the max. is 60 points. The discipline ends with an exam, the min. grade for the exam is 24 points, the max. is 40 points. For a full description of the assessment methods and criteria, see the discipline's program. Students who score a total of less than the critical-calculated min. of 36 points are not allowed to take the exam. For these students, a final semester test is conducted at the end of the semester. Exam structure: 1) reading and retelling the content of a text of medium complexity, answering the teacher's questions (max. 10 points); 2) presentation of a grammatical topic, a written task to check the mastery of the relevant grammatical topic (max. 20 points); 3) presentation of an oral topic and a short dialogue with the teacher on the topic (max. 10 points).
