PLO 1. Сommunicate freely on professional issues with experts and non-experts in Ukrainian, Spanish and English, in oral and in written form, use these languages to ensure effective cross-cultural communication. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques necessary to produce oral and written texts of different genres and styles in Ukrainian, Spanish and English. PLO 14. Use Spanish and English in oral and written form, in different genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PLO 21. Interpret, abstract, annotate and adequately translate (from Spanish, English and Ukrainian) oral and written texts of various styles and genres, except highly specialized ones. And also PLO 8, 9, 23, 24.

Full-time form

1. Know the lexical and grammatical material covered by the foreign language curriculum in secondary schools. 2. Be able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in simulated communicative situations. 3. Have a level of English not lower than B1+.

The purpose of the discipline "The English Language and Translation" is the formation of English communicative competence essential for effective intercultural communication, deepening students' practical knowledge in phonetics, vocabulary, and grammar; to acquaintance with the ways of transferring the meanings of linguistic units of the source language into the target language based on in-depth knowledge of English in all its aspects, deepening the linguistic and linguistic and cultural erudition of students. The training is based on fundamental principles of the communicative approach to foreign language learning with authentic materials and modelling of real communicative situations.

Practical classes, individual work

Answers and additions to the practical classes are assessed at the end of each practical class. Written tests will be assessed after each topic is covered. Presentations are graded at the end of each practical session. Blitz quizzes are assessed after each relevant topic. The quizzes are completed after each topic. The final test is taken at the penultimate lesson. The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam. The maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points (positive mark), which are added to the semester marks - 24 points: 1. Written translation into Ukrainian of an English-language text and lexical and grammatical commentary on it - 20 points (written part); 2. Completion of a grammar task - 10 points (oral part); 3. Disclosure of an oral topic using active vocabulary - 10 points (oral part).
