PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyse and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. Prerequisites and co-requisites
Students must have successfully completed Practical Сourse of French, History of the French Language, Introduction to the Specialty, Stylistics of Translated Text (Ukrainian), Parts 1 and 2 of the Comparative Studies. Know: the fundamental provisions of lexicology and grammar of French and Ukrainian languages, grammatical and lexical features of the French language and its national variants, the evolution of the language in the process of its development from the moment of its formation to the present state, the necessary terms and categories of lexicology and grammar, the linguistic apparatus for their description in two languages; be able to: work independently with sources of scientific literature, analyse and critically evaluate them, collect empirical material by the method of continuous sampling and be able to classify it according to the purpose of the study.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to develop an independent research of one of the topical issues within the course "Comparative Studies". Writing a term paper is aimed at helping students master modern research methods and develop skills in working with scientific literature on the problems of comparative lexicology and comparative grammar, methods of collecting the necessary empirical material and its independent analysis in order to formulate logical conclusions based on the research.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Individual work, consultations with a supervisor.
Assessment methods and criteria
Term papers that, according to the conclusion of the supervisor, deserve a positive assessment are recommended for defence. Works that, according to the preliminary assessment the supervisor does not have grounds for a positive assessment, are not allowed to be defended and are handed over to the student for further (revision). Based on the prepared work and its defence, the academic supervisor assigns a final grade based on a 100-point system. Form of final control is a differentiated credit test.
