Learning outcomes
PLO 5. Cooperate with colleagues, representatives of other cultures and religions, supporters of different political views, etc.
PLO 22. Use knowledge of the history and culture of Ukraine and linguistic and cultural studies of English-speaking and German/French/Spanish/Italian/Portuguese-speaking countries to organize successful communication and adequate translation.
PLO 23: Identify and analyze the specifics of the communicative situation of translation and its impact on translation decisions.
PLO 24. Conduct consecutive interpreting from English, German / French / Spanish / Italian / Portuguese and master the basics of interpreting notetaking.
PLO 30.2. Demonstrate the ability to translate and interpret specialized texts from English, German / French / Spanish / Italian / Portuguese into Ukrainian and vice versa.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of courses: introduction to translation studies, interpreting and translation practice, etc. To know the main categories of translation and general principles of translation and interpreting.
2. Be able to adequately apply basic translation transformations.
3. Knowledge of English at the level not lower than C1 and Ukrainian at the level not lower than C2.
Course content
The discipline “Bidirectional Consecutive Interpreting (English)” is an elective discipline of the block "Specialized Translation and Interpreting". Together with other disciplines of the block it trains students to carry out professional translation activities in the industry of interpretation. The discipline acquaints students with the main types of interpretation, the specifics of bilateral consecutive interpretation and the peculiarities of its implementation in various translation situations; forms the competence of future translators necessary for the implementation of various types of consecutive interpretation; improves general translation skills. Teaching and assessment is conducted in English and Ukrainian.

Exam (40 points), maximum number of points during the term – 60 points;
Term evaluation:
• Spoken answers: LO 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1 – 40 points;
• presentation on the analysis of scientific literature: LO 1.1., 1.2, 3.2,4.1,4.2 – 5 points;
• Vocabulary test: LO 1.2, 4.1 – 5 points.
• Test: LO 1.1, 2.1, 2.2 – 10 points
