Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non-experts in Ukrainian, English and French languages, in oral and in written form, use these languages to organize effective cross-cultural communication. PLO 14. Use French and English languages in oral and written form, in different genre-style varieties and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), for solving communicative tasks in everyday, public, educational, professional and academic spheres of life. PLO 15. Provide linguistic, literary and translatorial analysis of texts of various styles and genres.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prior to taking this course, students are required to have successfully completed the following courses in previous years: "Practical French Language Course", "Introduction to Translation Studies", "Introduction to Linguistics", "Translation and Interpretation Practice (French)", "Stylistics of the Language Resource (Ukrainian)". Knowledge: normative phonetics, grammar of the French language, basic concepts of translation studies, vocabulary within the range of materials covered in previous courses. Abilities: - communicate adequately in French on very familiar topics, in accordance with phonetic, lexical and grammatical norms in various situations of everyday life at a level not lower than B1-B2; - do lexical and grammatical analysis of the text; - produce oral and written texts in French. Skills: to abstract socio-political and literary texts in French.
Course content
The discipline involves the further development and consolidation of skills and abilities in sight translation, written, consecutive and abstract translation of media, popular science and official discourse texts for the French-Ukrainian language combination. The objective is to develop translation competence in the volume and areas that would allow the future professional to specialize in various fields and situations requiring translation or interpreting. The course provides for the application of theoretical knowledge of translation studies and the development of practical skills in translation and mediation in intercultural contacts. The course is based on authentic materials and simulations of real-life communication situations.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities throughout the semester: oral testing (blitz questioning, discussions, sight translation, consecutive translation, translation analysis), written assignments (translation, abstract translation, translation commentary, revision, transcription of a foreign language text). Compile a thematic glossary on the studied subjects. Teaching methods: interactive, analysis and synthesis, comparative and contrastive, multimedia, functional and communicative, ludic, creative and heuristic.
Assessment methods and criteria
points for semester assignments (minimum 36, maximum 60 points) and the final assessment - an exam (minimum 24, maximum 40 points). Admission to the exam assumes that the student has successfully completed the assignments and activities throughout the semester. Semester assessment by forms of control: - oral responses (blitz questioning, discussion, sight translation, consecutive interpreting, translator's analysis) - maximum 15 points; - written assignments (translation, summary translation, translator's commentary, revision, transcription of a foreign language text) - maximum 15 marks; - compilation of a thematic glossary on the studied material - max. 5 points; - module control assignments: written translation - max. 5 points, translator's commentary - max. 5 points. Students who score less than the critical minimum of 36 points are not allowed to take the exam.
