Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in national and foreign languages (French and English) orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication. PLO 9. Characterize the dialectal and social varieties of the French and English languages, describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO 10. Know the norms of the literary language and be able to apply them in practical activities. PLO 11. To know the principles, technologies and methods of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in national and foreign (French and English) languages. PLO 14. To use French and English in oral and written form, in various genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Mastering the program material of the 1st year: students must have an adequate level of grammar, vocabulary and phonetics of the French language within the scope of the topics provided by the curriculum; translate from Ukrainian to French and vice versa, paraphrase texts, listen to original messages from different directions, have the skills to understand unknown words from the context, develop a communicative situation, translate various texts within the program.
Course content
Purpose: comprehensive study of phonetics, grammar and vocabulary of the French language; formation of students' French-speaking communicative competence, as well as translation skills and abilities. Noun: this normative discipline is taught in the form of practical classes and involves systematic and comprehensive language teaching: all aspects of the language are studied in parallel with the development of students' speaking and translation skills and abilities. The study of the French language takes place on the basis of the main provisions of the communicative approach to teaching a foreign language using authentic language materials and modeling of real communicative situations. The principle of communicativeness is primary within all types of speech activity - listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation. Methods of teaching – interactive, analysis, synthesis, multimedial, structurel, ludic, creative and heuristic.

Practical classes, independent work During the semester: - oral answers, blitz surveys; - written tasks, works; - tests, independent, control; - preparation and defense of the presentation.
Assessment methods and criteria
Maximum number of points during fourth semester – 100 points. Forms of control: oral answers, blitz surveys – max. 15 points ; written tasks – max. 10 points; current controls – max. 10 points; preparation and protection of the presentation – max. 5 points ; modular control: test + written translation – max. 20 points ; exam : oral and written form – max. 40 points.
