Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know: - the place of the French language in the world language system; - the peculiarities of the French language as an integral system; - the rules of phonetic design (stress, pause, intonation) of statements of different types (dialogue, monologue) in accordance with the situation of intercultural communication; 2. Be able to: - produce prepared or unprepared monologue and dialogues that summarize and/or supplement the content of what they have heard or seen; - apply effective learning strategies in reading and listening; - critically comprehend and express their own opinion about what they have read or heard, provide arguments; compare and contrast opinions, etc. 3. Possess basic skills - technical skills of creating presentations. - To implement scientific research and improve their learning strategies.
Course content
The course "Western European Business and Academic Language" is designed to improve and ensure the further development of knowledge, skills and abilities in a foreign language acquired within the university program and their activation for research activities. To this end, the course aims to improve students' socio-cultural, linguistic, professional and cognitive competencies, to form a positive attitude towards mastering the language and culture of the English-speaking world, and to increase the effectiveness of communication in French. This course is a basic discipline within the Bachelor's degree program, field of study 03. Humanities, specialty 035. Oriental Languages and Literature.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides for the following forms of learning organization: practical classes conducted using interactive teaching methods and independent work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: classroom work, answers in practical classes, presentations, module tests with open answers. Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, including theoretical training, which accounts for 40% of the total grade, and practical training, which accounts for 60% of the total grade. The semester grade is formed by the points received by the student for classroom work and for independent work. The evaluation criteria are presented in the discipline's work program, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
