Programme Learning Outcomes: PLO 6. Use instruments of a democratic state governed by the rule of law in professional and public activities. PLO 12. PLO 12. Realize the value of protecting the independence, territorial integrity, and democracy of Ukraine. PLO 17. Be able to work with theoretical and research sources (in particular, digital), search for, process, systematize, and use updated information, bibliography, and computer technologies in educational activities. PLO 18. Have creative and critical thinking, and make creative use of both national and international theories and experience to solve social and professional tasks.

Prerequisites and performance requirements Students are expected to have knowledge and skills and abilities acquired through the Humanities courses such as "Introduction to university studies" etc.; be aware of the main categories and concepts related to the life activity of an individual and society; be able to identify, analyze educational information, make reasonable conclusions on issues of professional activity; have elementary skills in drafting documents, editing their content, systematizing materials necessary for work, managing their own educational activities.

Course description The course explores the basic principles of the realization of the right to work and its main forms, as well as the economic, institutional, and organizational foundations of entrepreneurship. It consists of 2 modules and ends with a pass/fail test. Module 1 focuses on legal norms that regulate the procedure for concluding, changing, and terminating an employment contract as the main form of exercising the right to work; establishing and regulating basic working conditions: work time and rest periods; rationing and payment of labor; labor protection, labor discipline, protection of labor rights in Ukraine. Module 2 focuses on the economic, institutional, and organizational foundations of entrepreneurship, its forms and planning strategies, innovative entrepreneurship, ways of launching own business, as well as state regulation of entrepreneurship and commercialization of scientific achievements.

Classroom activities and teaching techniques The major activities that engage students and provide evidence to assess their performance include classroom performance in lectured and practical sessions (blitz-questioning, oral contributions, discussion of controversial issues), independent assignments (essay, presentation, cases), a module test, and an end-of-course test. A student can score max. 100 and min. 60 points for the performance in these activities, A detailed description of the activities and formative assessment criteria is presented in the course curriculum and made public on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.

Assessment A student’s final grade is based on a 100-point grading system, a pass/fail assessment score is made up of the scores earned for the performance during the term (max. 100, min. 60 points) and does not involve any additional assessment events. The end-of-course assessment score is the sum of points earned for classroom performance in lectured and practical sessions (blitz-questioning, oral contributions, discussion of controversial issues - 41 points), independent assignments (essay, presentation, cases - 36 points), a module test (8 points), and an end-of-course test (15 points). To succeed in the pass/fail assessment, students are required to gain a passing grade of 60; students fail if the score is below 60.
