Prerequisites and performance requirements
Successful performance in the practicum builds on the prior knowledge of pedagogy, including the theory of education, age psychology of secondary school students, and ability to design extra-curricular events and class meetings. The course has interdisciplinary links with psychology and pedagogy.
Course content
Course Description
The teaching practicum aims to build teacher skills in implementing instruction and education at secondary school. The practicum includes three modules. In Module 1, students are familiarised with the objectives and activities that pertain to the job duties of a class teacher/tutor. Within Module 2, students are engaged in the planning of extra-curricular events, selection of the required materials, and holding self-prepared educational events. Module 3 is focused on the preparation of reports on the practicum, and the presentation of the practicum results. Practicum settings (secondary educational establishments) are appointed each year in compliance with the agreements signed. The format of the practicum is full-time/online. It ends in a pass/fail credit with scores.

Classroom activities and training techniques:
The practicum is composed of the stages envisaging its organization and implementation. Weeks One-Two engage students in an organizational meeting, getting acquainted with school managers, a class teacher, and schoolchildren in the form, observation of class meetings, and communication of the class teacher with the form. During Weeks Three-Four, the trainees are engaged in the preparation and holding of extra-curricular events, the development of extended plans for the events, and the preparation of the necessary materials/visual aids. Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment
The practicum ends in a pass/fail credit with scores. The final score is based on the 100-point grading scheme. It is composed of the scores earned for a written psychological and educational profile of the form (max. 10, min. 6 points); a designed plan of educational work in the form (max. 5, min. 3 points), observation and a written analysis of the observed educational events held by schoolteachers (max.5, min. 3 points); observation and a written analysis of the observed educational events held by fellow trainees (max. 10, min. 6 points); a written analysis of a self-conducted educational event (max.5, min. 3 points); a report on the practicum (max.5, min. 3 points).
