Course content
The course is aimed at providing a comprehensive understanding of the Ukrainian literary process in the first half of the 20th century. This course focuses on conceptually comprehending and thoroughly studying the literature of the era of Executed Renaissance, identifying and elucidating trends and patterns of its development, and determining aesthetic orientations. This period is associated with affirming a modern worldview simultaneously with the formation and forced imposition of the principles of socialist realism, a quasi-mystical style of totalitarian society. The course highlights the development of Ukrainian literature as a diverse, dynamic, and controversial process, which is an integral part of the European cultural space.
