Course content
The objective of the discipline is to comprehend the most important aspects of the history of Ukrainian literature in the second half of the 19th century. This literature, with its emergence, awakened the national and societal consciousness of the people and became a guarantor of preserving historical, moral-ethical, and national priorities. The discipline explores stylistic, genre, and thematic features, as well as age-old traditions and ideological-artistic innovation. It involves reflecting on Ukrainian literature of the 1850s-1860s and 1870s-1890s as a force that shaped and preserved ethnic self-awareness, ensured national distinctiveness, and demonstrated the height of artistic quality. Special attention is given to prominent figures, including P. Kulish, Marko Vovchok, I. Nechuy-Levytsky, Panas Myrny, I. Franko, and I. Karpenko-Karyi.
