Learning outcomes
PLO 1 Communicate fluently in English on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists, use English for the organization of effective intercultural communication. PLO 2 Work effectively with information: select necessary information from various sources, in particular from professional literature and electronic bases, critically analyze, interpret, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO 9 Characterize dialectal and social varieties of Ukrainian and English, describe sociolinguistic situation. PLO 12 Analyze language units, determine their interaction and characterize linguistic phenomena and the processes that cause them. PLO 15 Carry out linguistic and literary analysis of the texts of various styles and genres.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student should successfully master the following academic disciplines: "English(1st and 2nd semesters)" and "Fundamentals of Linguistics". The student should be familiar with basic linguistic concepts, be able to apply linguistic tools in practice, possess elementary skills in selecting, analyzing, and interpreting linguistic facts, and communicate on linguistic topics.
Course content
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the fundamental questions of theoretical grammar of the English language and to develop their understanding of the essence of grammatical phenomena, terms, and categories. Part 1, studied in the III semester, is dedicated to defining the place of theoretical grammar among other linguistic disciplines and highlights the morphological features of the English language. The study of theoretical grammar deepens, generalizes, and systematizes students' knowledge, serving as a foundation for conducting their linguistic research. The discipline concludes with an intermediate assessment.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
"The planned educational activities: oral presentations (responses during classes) and tests. Teaching methods: lectures and independent student work."
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral presentation (response during class) - maximum 5/minimum 3 points. Final examination - maximum 50/minimum 30 points. The overall evaluation is an interim assessment. The semester total is determined by the points earned by the student throughout the entire course. Students, who have a total score of less than 60, cannot be certified. The grading scale is as follows (assuming the pass criteria): "Passed" - 60-100, "Failed" - 0-59.
