Learning outcomes
PLO 5 Cooperate with colleagues, representatives of other cultures and religions, supporters of different political views, etc. PLO 8 Know and understand the language system (Ukrianian and English ones), general characteristics of literature as the art of words, history of the Ukrainian language and literature, and be able to apply this knowledge in the professional activity. PLO 13 Analyze and interpret Ukrainian and foreign fiction and folklore, define their specificity and place in literature process (according to the selected specialization). PLP19 Have the skills to participate in theoretical and/or applied studies in the field of philology.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting this course, students should successfully master the school curriculum on Ukrainian literature and history of Ukraine. They should know the principles of analysis of artistic works; the main tendencies of the literary process and aesthetic, and social factors influencing literary development. Verbally and in the written form, students should be able to build their own opinions based on theoretical knowledge of the History of Ukrainian and Foreign Literature course; to analyze genre and style features of works; to highlight problem-thematic features of the literary movement; systematize literary facts and phenomena, give them an objective assessment; independently analyze and research individual aspects of the literary process.
Course content

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Educational activities: verbal answer, performance of individual work, the report analyzing scientific literature, the creative task, the test. Teaching methods: lectures, practical classes, independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
"Verbal answer - 3 max/2 min, independent work - 5 max/3 min, report analyzing scientific literature - 3 max/1 min, creative task (presentation, abstract, review) - 5 max/3 min, test - 20 max/12 min.
Form of final control - the credit.
The credit is awarded based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not incorporate additional assessment measures. Students, who got less than 60 points during the semester must prepare materials on the topics for which the deficit arose by composing independent papers, essays, or, if necessary, take a test to pass the credit. The grading scale is as follows: ""Pass"" - 60-100 and ""Fail"" - 0-59."
