Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student must know basic information on ethnography and history of Ukraine, Ukrainian ritual culture, history of Ukrainian culture, folk Ukrainian decorative and applied art; to be able to select, process and systematize scientific sources on a specific issue.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline "Theory and practice of exhibition activity" is to form, develop and deepen students' knowledge about the main areas of activity of ethnographic museums, open-air museums of Ukraine, specific features of exposition work, types of exposition of ethnographic museums and methods of their organization. Abstract. In modern conditions of the globalization of society, the ways of developing national self-awareness and preserving identity lie through the processes of fixation, study, preservation of national culture, awareness and understanding of national traditions, customs, rites, and artifacts that accompany them. The most important role in this is played by ethnographic museums, open-air museums, and centers of folk culture of Ukraine. The course provides for the study of the history of museum development in Ukraine, the national museum heritage, methodological principles and technological features of the organization of fund, exposition, and excursion work in ethnographic museums, open-air museums, and folk culture centers of Ukraine.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The educational discipline involves the study of 4 topics. Forms of education: lectures, practical, performance of the 1st individual task, 1 final test (preparation and conducting an excursion in the ethnographic museum-open-air museum). Throughout the semester, after lectures on relevant topics, practical classes are held, at which evaluation is carried out according to the types of work (oral response, performance of an individual task). Lectures and practical classes on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th topics are held in the departments of fund and exposition work of the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine within the framework of the cooperation agreement
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides a two-level assessment of the learned material, assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge) - 40% of the total assessment, and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills, communication, autonomy and responsibility) - 60% of the total evaluations Evaluation of the semester work: oral answer in the practical session - 2/4 points, performance of an individual task - 5/10 points, final test (excursion preparation) - 15/22 points. The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom work, which synthesizes and independent work on processing theoretical material for classroom preparation. All types of work for the semester have a total of 36/60 points. The discipline ends with a written exam of 24/40 points.
