PLO 4. To know and understand theoretical approaches to the definition of culture, its manifestations and forms. PLO 6. Identify, verify and summarize information on various contexts of cultural practice, determine the degree of their relevance using relevant sources, information, communication tools and visual technologies. PLO 8. Interpret ethnocultural sources (material, printed, visual, artistic) using special literature and certain methods, reasonably present conclusions about their content.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting the study of this discipline, students must complete courses: СС.10. "Mythology", СС. 13. "Ukrainian ceremonial culture", СС. 16. "History of ethnocultural studies"; must know the historical development of the science of folk culture, the main ritual practices, the specifics of mythological thinking and worldviewю Be able to identify archaic and modern elements of folk culture phenomena, work with various sources of empirical and scientific information, process it, make generalizations and conclusions. Possess elementary skills of ethnocultural analysis, search and arrangement of information.
Course content
Purpose of discipline - to form an idea of folk medicine as a component of traditional culture and sacred knowledge, to familiarize with traditional treatment practices, the structure of magical acts, and the features of their main elements. Annotation. This course is aimed at forming students' knowledge of folk medicine as a component of traditional sacred knowledge, designed to acquaint students with well-known healing practices (shamanism, witchcraft), ideas about the bearer of sacred knowledge in traditional culture (witch doctors, sorcerers, shamans, etc.), the structure therapeutic acts, the specificity of the communicative situation and its main elements.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course includes 3 content parts. The first part is a general description of the historiography and research methodology of folk medicine and traditional magical practices. The second is an analysis of traditional medical practices, carriers of sacred knowledge, main diseases and methods of their treatment, specifics of medical acts. The third is an analysis of the poetics of therapeutic orders (text structure, basic ordering formulas, invariant units, artistic means, etc.). Classes are held in the form of lectures and seminars. Forms of education: lecture, seminar, independent work. During the semester, after lectures on relevant topics, seminar classes are held, at which evaluation is carried out according to the types of work (oral response, report/presentation, control work).
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, evaluation is carried out in accordance with the types of work and the form of assessment (oral answer, individual task, control work). The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored a minimum positive number of points ¬– 60, receive – "enrolled". Students who did not score the minimum positive number of points - 60 - receive - "not counted". Students who scored a total of less than 60 points during the semester must prepare material on the topics for which the debt arose, in the form of writing independent papers, or write a test paper in order to pass the test.
