Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting the study of this discipline, students must successfully master such educational disciplines as: "History of Ukrainian culture", "Ukrainian ceremonial culture", "Ukrainian folk musical culture", practical course "Choreography". Accordingly, to know the theoretical foundations of oral folk art, in particular, the genesis of folklore genres that have a dance component in their syncretic nature, to possess scientific terminology, dance vocabulary, to show awareness of folk dance samples, to be able to use ethnological sources, the information base of Ukrainian and foreign language specialist publications .
Course content
Purpose of the discipline is to reveal modern scientific approaches to the understanding of concepts, knowledge, methods and techniques, thanks to which the development of folk choreographic art, the phenomenon of dance creativity, is investigated in historical logic. Annotation. The educational discipline should help students of cultural studies to understand the historical regularities of the existence of this cultural phenomenon in the ethnic traditions of the world, in particular Ukrainian folk art, and contribute to their mastering of the theoretical foundations of choreographic art in a broad cultural context. The content of the developed educational course is, first of all, the history and theory of world folk choreographic art (consideration from the standpoint of choreology in the humanities system) and, in particular, dance in the Ukrainian musical tradition, its potential and influence on people in the modern world); domestic and foreign research on the nature of dance is considered.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Three content modules are provided in the course of the academic discipline. Content module 1 includes topics from the history and general theory of choreographic art, features of the conceptual-categorical apparatus, its basic principles; to content module 2 includes topics from ethnochoreology, in particular Ukrainian musical and choreographic traditions; to content module 3 includes topics on the history and methods of recording, recording folk dance (notation). Forms of education: lectures, seminars, scientific seminar, independent work. During the semester, after the lectures on the relevant topics, seminar classes are held, at which evaluation is carried out according to the types of work (oral response, addition, report, analysis of scientific sources, transcription and notation of a dance sample, presentation, participation in discussions at lectures and practical classes, review, intermediate test/test, final test). The final test is conducted no later than the last week.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the learned material, assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge) - 50% of the total assessment, and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills, communication, autonomy and responsibility - 50% of the overall assessment . Evaluation of semester work: the overall grade for the semester consists of the points received for the classroom work (which synthesizes and independent work on the development of theoretical material for preparation for the classroom): oral answer, addition, report, analysis of scientific sources,transcription and notation of a dance sample, presentation, participation in discussions at lectures and practical classes, review, intermediate test/test : 46/80 points, final test: 14/20 p.
