PLO 2. Analyze, comment, generalize, scientific and analytical texts of an ethnocultural nature. PLO 8. Interpret ethno-cultural sources (material, printed, visual, artistic) using special literature and defined methods, present reasoned conclusions about their content. PLO 10. Recognize and classify different types of ethno-cultural products, determine their quality characteristics based on comprehensive analysis.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting the study of this discipline, students should know the genre of Ukrainian oral culture, the history of its fixation, publication, research. To be able to differentiate oral narratives of children's folklore and folk aphorisms by genre and species characteristics. To have basic skills of oral narrative analysis, search and abstracting of scientific sources on the studied issues.
Course content
Purpose of discipline – assimilation by students of the main theoretical approaches to the study of paremias, children's and folklore for children as genre varieties of Ukrainian oral culture. Formation of research skills, typology, classification of paremias, children's folklore and folklore for children. Annotation. The discipline is divided into two substantive parts: "Small genres of oral culture", "Children's folklore as a component of ethnoculture". Within the first part, which is focused on the mastery of folk paremys, their genre varieties, classification systems, poetics, methods and approaches to their study, the history of collection and research, their connection with other types of folk art and traditional culture in general are studied. In Part 2, genre varieties of children's folklore and folklore for children, its structure, poetics, and functions are studied. Approaches and methods of its research, history of collection and publication, ethnomusicological component, connection with other types of folk creativity and traditional culture in general.

Assessment methods and criteria
Throughout the semester, after lectures on relevant topics, seminar classes are held, at which evaluation is carried out according to the types of works and the form of the counter. Students who scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 36 points in two parts are not allowed to take the exam. For students who during the semester did not reach the minimum cut-off grade level for parts of the discipline (Part 1 – 30 points; Part 2 – 30 points) at the end of the semester, additional control work is conducted or essays, presentations and other forms of work on course topics are evaluated. The maximum grade for additional assessment forms cannot exceed 40% of the maximum total points for the semester.
