Know:
• current issues, leading scientific theories and methods of folklore research;
• features of the organization of research work;
• priority areas for further development of research on selected topics of their course work;
• the main stages of research work on the chosen topic;
• features of conducting research work, drawing up a calendar plan for its implementation.
Be able to:
• select and analyze sources of information in the field of their research, adequately apply them in their own scientific practice;
• substantiate the relevance, purpose, objectives, object and subject, research methods in the chosen thematic area;
Possess skills:
• research search and structural and systematic analysis of professional literature;
• folkloristic analysis of the material, formulation of conclusions about the research work.
Course content
A term paper on folklore is an individual research work that makes it possible to determine the level of mastery of theoretical knowledge and practical training by the applicant for higher education, the ability to work independently as a future specialist folklorist. The term paper on folklore is an original, completed research in the field of knowledge 03 "Humanities", specialty 035 "Philology", specialization 035.09 "Folklore Studies", which contains a set of results, provisions proposed for public defense.
The course work is carried out in accordance with the areas of scientific and applied research in folklore studies and should demonstrate: conscious assimilation of knowledge and its systematization; the level of professional training of the applicant; the ability to think critically and the ability to argue their own point of view; the student's professional work skills.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Consultation with a supervisor, independent work on the research topic, writing a course work, preparing a presentation, and defending the course work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The maximum grade for a term paper on folk art is 100 points.
The minimum positive grade is 60 points.
The total number of points consists of the sum of points, which includes:
• feedback from the supervisor (maximum 10 points)
• quality of research (maximum 50 points)
• defense-presentation of the course work (maximum 40 points)
