Learning outcomes
PLO 7. Understand the main problems of philology and approaches to their solution using appropriate methods and innovative approaches. PLO 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of words, the history of languages and literature being studied, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 13. Analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and foreign fiction and oral folk art, determine their specificity and place in the literary process. PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of various styles and genres. PLO 16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of folkloristics, linguistics, and literary studies, to be able to apply them in professional activities.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To know the peculiarities of the functioning of Ukrainian literature of previous periods; • the latest literary concepts, to navigate in them; • the main periods of the history of Ukrainian literature, their features; 2. To be able to analyze and possess elementary skills in the analysis of poetry, prose, drama in Ukrainian literature of the end of the 19th century. - the beginning of the 20th century; • work independently with fiction and non-fiction; • analyze texts; to apply modern methods of literary studies when analyzing a work of art. 3. Possess elementary skills • determine the genre and style features of the analyzed text, its subject matter and problems; • to classify literary works - by subject matter, issues, genre and style characteristics, highlighting the most noticeable features and highlighting the most revealing trends in the literary process.
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to give students knowledge about the main trends in the development of Ukrainian literature. XIX - beginning 20th century, as well as focus attention on the peculiarities of the functioning of various literary schools, trends through the analysis of scientific, journalistic and fiction literature of this period, the formation of professional competencies of students, future philologists, deepen the understanding of the specifics of the development of poetry, prose, drama, criticism and literary studies based on study of iconic works of Ukrainian literature of the 19th century - beginning 20th century

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Methods: lecture, independent work. Activities: blitz survey, participation in the discussion, creative task, presentation (preparation, defense), final control work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student in the process of learning the material from the entire educational course. The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom work (which synthesizes and independent work on processing theoretical material for classroom preparation: oral answers, additions, blitz surveys, tests, presentation defense) and for independent work (presentation preparation). All types of work for the semester have as a result: - in the maximum dimension of 100 points, - a minimum of 60 points. Final assessment: credit
