PLO 13. Analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and foreign fiction and oral folk art, determine their specificity and place in the literary process.

PLO 16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of folkloristics, linguistics and literary studies, to be able to apply them in professional activities.

            Before starting the study of this discipline, students should know: the main characteristics of folklore as a traditional folk art; the connection of folkloristics with other humanities; possess basic factual knowledge of a humanitarian nature; be able to work with various sources of educational and scientific information, process it, make generalizations and conclusions; collect and interpret information about the peculiarities of folklore genres; apply basic concepts in the analysis of folklore phenomena; plan and evaluate own work; use interactive and multimedia tools; have elementary skills of scientific research, search and processing
educational and scientific information; use of professional informative sources, including foreign language ones; critical attitude to the analyzed phenomena; works with folklore texts; production of complex oral and written messages; interaction and cooperation in learning in exploratory situations.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            Purpose of discipline – systematic study by students of the phenomenon of collective folk art, the evolution and poetic specificity of non-ritual epic and lyric-epic folklore genres and subgenres, the laws of their creation and the peculiarities of modification.
Annotation. The educational discipline is a component of the multi-semester ND "Ukrainian Folklore". The course consists of two content modules. The first one is aimed at students' understanding of oral genres of folk humor, genres with a dominant fear of death, and the subgenre paradigm of the "folk tale" phenomenon. The second is devoted to the peculiarities of the creation and existence of the genres of non-fabulous folk prose and folk lyric epic.

            Planned learning activities and teaching methods
        
        
            The course includes 2 content parts. The educational discipline consists of two substantive parts. Forms of education: lectures, seminars, independent work. Throughout the semester, after lectures on relevant topics, seminar classes are held, which are evaluated according to the types of work (oral answer, blitz survey, preparation of tests by topics, control work, presentation, exam).
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the learned material, assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge) - 40% of the total assessment and assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills, communication) - 60% of the overall assessment.
Evaluation of the semester work: oral answer, current control work: 25/45b. Preparation and defense of the presentation: 11/15b. The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom work (oral answers, blitz survey, current test papers, defense of the presentation) and for independent work (preparation of the presentation, preparation of tests by topics,). The final grade for the discipline (minimum 60, maximum 100 points) consists of the sum of the number of points for the semester work (minimum 36, maximum 60 points) and the written exam (minimum 24, maximum 40 points).
